Durban: Airport Hotels and Accommodation

Unfortunately there are no hotels in the airport grounds, yet you will find number of small guest houses and quality bed and breakfast establishments nearby, some of which offer courtesy transport to and from the airport. The Tourist Information Centre at Durban International Airport has further information on accommodation in the area.

Durban: City Hotels and Accommodation

Many large and modern hotels lie in Durban city centre, which is just 17 km / 11 miles north of Durban International Airport (DUR) and can be reached in around 20 minutes. Numerous hotels line the streets of central Durban and are always busy, with crowds of people often milling around and enjoying the attractions, shops and restaurants here.

Most people visiting Durban choose to stay along the famous 'Golden Mile' of coastline, alongside the city centre, where you will find a range of accommodation, include many high-rise hotels with balconies overlooking the shore and the Indian Ocean. Hotels along the Golden Mile include a selection of well-known chains, such as InterContinental and Holiday Inn.

Further accommodation in Durban can be found in the Berea and Kloof areas, two relaxed and fairly quiet neighbourhoods, which have the advantage of being home to many reasonably priced guest houses and small hotels, within easy reach of the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Also worth considering, the Umhlanga, on the northern side of Durban, is becoming an increasingly popular place to stay and features a number of notable hotels close to the coastline and scenic countryside, where many recreational activities are available.
